Barbara was born to Florence and Leonard Moen in Grand Forks, ND on September 3, 1943. They lived in Gilby, ND where her mother was a stay at home mom and her dad was owner/operator of the Gilby Garage. She graduated from Gilby High School in 1961. She has one sibling, Lynette Montgomery.
Barb married Tim Anvinson from Oslo, MN in the fall of 1961. They resided near Oslo, MN where Tim worked the family farm. They have four children, Kyle, Todd, Kim & Chad. They have 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Her grandchildren range in age from 25 to 10. Bentley, her great-grandson, is 18 months old.
Barb and Tim were active members of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She enjoyed working with the parish youth and participated in many church activities such as Teens Encounter Christ and Youth For Christ. One of the events included going to Denver Colorado where she met Pope John Paul. Barb was also a eucharistic minister.
When her children were all in school, Barb worked various positions at Oslo Public Schools, UND Alumni Association, EGF Public Schools, Sacred Heart Church and Northland Community College in East Grand Forks. She retired from Northland in January of 2006.
After they retired, Barb and Tim split their time between northern Minnesota and Palm Springs California. Activities Barb enjoyed were curling, golfing and walking. Barb is currently a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mentor and she likes spending time at Union Lake with family and friends and UND hockey.
